Fleet insurance

Does your company have multiple commercial vehicles? Then it is efficient to insure them under a single fleet insurance policy. Instead of separate car insurance policies for each vehicle, you combine your entire fleet in one clear policy.

A fleet insurance policy simplifies the management of your vehicles, offers uniform coverage, and often provides more favorable terms. At Van Dessel, we analyze your fleet and put together a solution tailored to your operations, drivers, and risks.

Through our digital management solution VD Fleet Solutions, you also get complete insight into your vehicles, premiums, and claims files, all on one platform.

What is a fleet insurance?

A fleet insurance is an insurance policy that brings together multiple company vehicles under one policy. This can include passenger cars, vans, trucks, or other vehicles used by your business.

Instead of insuring each vehicle separately, all vehicles are included in a single contract. This simplifies administrative management and allows you to tailor insurance conditions and premiums to the entire fleet. p>Depending on your needs, a fleet insurance can combine various coverages, such as:

  • Civil liability (CL)
  • Comprehensive or hull insurance
  • Driver's insurance
  • Legal assistance
  • Roadside assistance
  • Transport or goods insurance
  • CMR insurance
  • container/trailer liability

This way, you create a comprehensive solution that optimally protects your vehicles, drivers, and business activities.

What are the benefits?

Covers damage your vehicles cause to third parties.

Covers damage to your own vehicles caused by, among other things, accidents, fire, theft, or vandalism.

Covers the financial consequences of accidents involving drivers or passengers.

Covers legal costs and assistance in case of disputes or traffic incidents.

Who is this insurance for?

A fleet insurance policy is interesting for businesses that use multiple vehicles in their daily operations.

This can include, for example:

  • Companies with a fleet of company cars
  • Transport and logistics companies
  • Installation and service companies with vans
  • Construction companies with site vehicles
  • Organizations with vehicles for staff or services

Van Dessel can offer fleet insurance starting from just a few vehicles so that administrative and financial benefits can be enjoyed right away. For larger fleets, this is often the most efficient insurance solution. For larger fleets, alternative options such as Stop Loss can also be considered.

What is covered and what is not?

What is covered? The exact coverage depends on the chosen plans, but a fleet insurance policy can provide protection for, among other things:

  • Third-party damage caused by a company vehicle
  • Damage to your own vehicle caused by an accident, fire or theft
  • Glass breakage and damage caused by natural events
  • Bodily injury to drivers or passengers
  • Legal assistance in the event of disputes or accidents
  • Roadside assistance and breakdown recovery

What is not covered?

  • Damage caused by intentional acts or fraud
  • Normal wear and tear or mechanical breakdowns
  • Use of vehicles outside the policy terms and conditions
  • Damage caused while driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs

How much does this insurance cost?

The premium of a fleet insurance policy is determined based on several factors, including:

  • The number of vehicles in your fleet
  • The type of vehicles (passenger cars, vans, trucks)
  • The characteristics of the vehicles such as engine power, safety features...
  • How the vehicles are used
  • The claims history of your fleet
  • The chosen coverages and deductibles
  • The risk profile of the drivers
  • The presence of a prevention plan in the company.

Because multiple vehicles are combined in a single policy, often more favorable rates can be negotiated than with individual insurance policies. Moreover, having a good understanding of claims and risks enables you to take preventive measures and thus keep your insurance costs under control.

From how many vehicles does a fleet insurance policy become interesting?

A fleet insurance policy can often be worthwhile with just a few vehicles. Many businesses choose this option as soon as they have three to five company vehicles, as management then becomes easier.

Can I include different types of vehicles in one fleet insurance policy?

Yes. In most cases, a single fleet insurance policy can cover different types of vehicles, such as passenger cars, vans, trucks, or specialized vehicles.

Is a fleet insurance cheaper than individual car insurance policies?

Often yes. Because multiple vehicles are covered under one policy, insurers can offer more favorable rates and administrative management becomes simpler.

Can I add or remove vehicles during the contract period?

Yes. In a fleet insurance policy, vehicles can generally be easily added or removed when your fleet changes.

What happens in the event of damage involving a vehicle from the fleet?

In the event of damage, the claim will be handled according to the terms of the fleet policy. You can track your claim and view further processing via a central management platform or through your broker.
