General provisions

Consequences of signing the insurance proposal

The proposal does not initiate the cover, and does not bind either the company or the proposer(s) to conclude the contract. If the company has not notified the proposer(s) of any insurance offer, made the insurance conditional upon a request for an investigation, or refused the insurance within 30 days of receipt of the proposal, the company undertakes to conclude the contract on pain of a compensation payment.

To be fully informed...

The insurance intermediary is a specialist who assists the policyholder. He will inform the policyholder about the contract and the benefits arising from it, and will take all the necessary steps vis-à-vis the company on behalf of the policyholder. He will also assist the policyholder if a problem arises between the latter and the company. If the policyholder feels that he did not obtain the best solution in this way, he may contact the Insurance Ombudsman at Meeûssquare 35, 1000 Brussels (fax: 02/547.59.75, info@ombudsman-insurance.be). The insurance contract is subject to Belgian law, and the policyholder may also apply to the courts at any time.

Warning

Any fraud or attempt to defraud the insurance company will not only result in the cancellation of the insurance contract, but also in criminal prosecution on the basis of Article 496 of the Penal Code. The person concerned will also be included in the file of the Datassur economic interest group, Meeûssquare 35 - 1000 Brussels, which reminds member insurers of the insurance risks to be monitored.
